Eventful Sunday: Home, Work, Pictures!

Well, what an eventful day it's been!

First of all, I must say, it was not pleasant at all to be woken up at 6:00 AM by the guy in the suite above us blaring his music! I am quite convinced that he had this subwoofer pointed down at the floor -- right above my bed! Well, at least he was considerate enough this time to give us a little variety -- last time, he had the same song on repeat! Now, I am perfectly aware that we (my sister, our roommate, and I) are not always the perfect co-tennants ourselves -- we do have our loud moments! But, we are conscious of it, and try to keep our noise levels down, especially late at night. This act, clearly, was not in good intention! I'm thinking that, next time it happens, I my have to report it to the management. Seriously, it's rediculous!

So, realizing that I was not going to get any more sleep (my alarm was set for 7:30), I rolled over, and what did I see? My roommate's cat -- the one that has been claiming sanctuary in the hole on the underside of my box spring, and is now subsequently shredded -- attempting to pee at the corner of my dresser! I grabbed the squirt bottle -- which was still in my room from teaching cats that hamsters are friends, and not food -- and sprayed him in attempt to get him out of my room, but he dove under my bed, and back into the hole in the underside of my box spring. So I grabbed my umbrella -- the first thing I thought of -- and attempted to shoo him out.

[Insert more shredding of the cloth cover of the box spring here]

[And a lot of hissing]

[And growling, and clawing]

[And some more shredding for good measure]

The cat finally bolted and found his way into a kitchen cupboard. (If you haven't gathered already, this cat is very chicken-esque.) This place is not ideal for a cat to be -- especially since we keep the pots there (at least when they're clean) -- but I felt it was much better than my room! So I left it be. And made a note to close my door, to keep the cats out!

I got to work a bit early, so I decided to grab a few things! Actually, I was only after one thing: a little manicure set! Nikki picked one up the other day, because she needed to trim her cuticles, and I thought it was a great little set! Now, I'm not usually very finicky about my nails -- in fact, I am a biter -- but I do very much appreciate having a good cuticle nipper! (And I'll be honest, I could use to have the nail clippers!) Now, Nikki has very nice acrylic nails! So, after she told me about them -- like how they just fill them in when they grow out too much (I never knew!) -- I decided that I might like to try having acrylics! So now, with my new little manicure set, I am going to aim to go nail-biting-free for one month! And if I succeed, I will get the acrylics!

Now, I said I got a few things, even though I was only after one thing, so I will tell you what else I found: a blackhead extractor! I saw them use this on an episode of "The Doctors" and thought it was neat; a much better option that poking and squeezing at my face with my oily hands -- which I do, and I later regret horribly, but continue to do! I tried it as soon as I got home; I put a hot cloth on my face to open my pores, I made sure the extractor was clean with some alcohol, and I went att'er! After washing my face when I was done, my face was much less red than ... well, the other way. And I can say that I am looking forward to my new blackhead extractor becoming my best bathroom friend! Hooray for taking steps towards clear, healthy skin!

Work today was wonderful! It was very nice to get there, and not even think about my horrible morning at home! I even did an entire shoot -- from beginning to end -- by myself! The baby I was shooting was so so so sweet! He had lots of smiles, (I looove baby smiles! :D <- They look like that, only cuter!) and was very happy and talkative with me and mom when we were making her order. I spent well over two hours with them, but we had a lot of great photos, and we were happy with what she got! (I'm hoping I can ask mom for permission to add them to my portfolio. *crosses fingers*) And Nikki (who is our manager) said I did awesome! (And then she gave me a cookie, which we later referred to as my "Hero Cookie" even though it was not intended as a reward, but was more like a cookie she decided she did not want.) She said it was great for my first sale -- the customer got the Platinum Collection, and then some -- and that when they will come back, she'll most likely ask for me again; and I am very excited for Branek and his mom to come back for photos again in a few months! (Isn't that just a cool name?!)

And finally, for those of you that don't know, last week -- more specifically, last weekend -- we had some very strong winds across Alberta here! From north of Red Deer, where I live, way south of Calgary! Anyway, I was sent some photos in my email of the damage the wind did down in Medicine Hat, and there are two in particular I would like to share with you:

Yes, those are powerlines ... well, they used to be.

Now this next one is just ... crazy! Ready?

...

Look at the tracks left in the field by those bales!

Now haybales can weigh up to 1600 lbs! And some of these bales were reported to have traveled 5 miles from the force of the wind ... 5 miles!

That is insane!

Anyway, I may not be blogging for the next few days -- my sister and I may go camping for a couple nights, starting tomorrow. Should be fun -- I hope I get some fishing in!

Next week, I have some Drafts I reeeally want to get published! One about the 100 Thing Challenge, and one about the beginning of my Weight Loss Journey! And Thank you very much Redhead Riter for the ideas for my "About Me" -- I'll work on that when I get home too!

Have a great week everyone!
